Anthony Scaramucci, born January 6, 1964, is a financier, political commentator. and former U.S. government official. He founded SkyBridge Capital in 2005, managing alternative investments, including hedge funds and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. A strong supporter of the Avalanche blockchain, he praises its speed and scalability for DeFi applications. A Harvard Law graduate, he famously served as Trump’s White House Communications Director in 2017 for 11 days. He hosts a podcast and wrote The Little Book of Hedge Funds.

He is called "The Mooch" for his outgoing personality, networking style and smooth-talking persona. The nickname, derived from his last name, stuck during his Wall Street and White House days in 2017. He embraces it on social media.

 

Scaramucci has even emerged as a cultural icon.  A "Mooch or Scaramucci" now refers to a term of employment of 11 days, the length of his White House tenure.  He has used the term himself when referring to Trump's Communications Director and Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, saying "she has lasted way more 'Mooches' than me,"  He is a household name, particularly in American finance and politics.
